Ireland's Celtic County
With two great river valleys of the south
east running through the county, County Carlow has one of
the great focal points in Irelands ancient history.
Once known as the Dolmen County, you'll find
these massive stone reminders of our heritage dotted throughout
the county, in fact the largest Dolmen in Europe, Brownes
Hill Dolmen which is estimated to weigh over 100 tonnes
is within walking distance from our guest house.
Golf
Carlow is a golfer's paradise;
regardless of your skills or ability, you will find an
impressive variety of golfing
facilities to suit your needs
and taste. The novice is also well catered for with driving
ranges, pitch & putt, and Par 3's. Green fees are good
value everywhere and considerably cheaper than in other
area's of the country. Most clubs will have special "Open
Weeks" where you can enter competitions and take on
the locals with the possibility of going home with something
to show for your day. (e-mail
us for details). All the
course's listed on our Golf
page aim to provide the Golfer,
whether beginner or advanced, with an unforgettable experience
and a warm friendly welcome.
Gardens open to the
Public
County Carlow enjoys a number
of beautiful gardens, all of a high standard, located within
a compact area. The joy of visiting the gardens and garden
centres listed here is that all tastes are catered for,
from the budding gardening enthusiast to those with an
avid interest in all gardening matters. The Carlow Garden
Trail consists of many different types of gardens including
great old gardens that have been lovingly restored and
maintained throughout the years, and smaller gardens which
are maturing beautifully with time. Manicured lawns, herbaceous
borders, exotic plant collections and water features are
just some of the reasons for the growing numbers of visitors
to our gardens. The gardens on this trail are either owned
or staffed by willing and enthusiastic people, who without
exception are delighted to share their ideas and knowledge
with you the visitor.

information is available.
